PREPARING FOR THE
SACRAMENT OF HOLY MATRIMONY
Congratulations on your engagement!
We welcome engaged couples who seek to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony! We pray that God’s Grace pour out on you both as you prepare for a lifelong marriage. Weddings are a special time of joy and promise for bride and groom, their families and friends, and for the entire parish community. Our faith tells us that this is a privileged and grace-filled time. In view of the religious significance and commitment being made, the celebration of marriage must be entered into with prayerful planning. Couples should be attending Mass on a regular basis to further their relationship with God, our parish community, and one another.
Engaged couples are supported by a variety of people as they concentrate on their relationship with one another and God. Couples must contact the Church at least 6 months prior to their wedding. The bride and groom must obtain a recent Baptismal certificate. Other documents will be determined at the first meeting with the Parish Marriage Coordinator. The couple participates in the prenuptial inventory and evaluation (FOCCUS). A mentor couple will be designed to review the Inventory with them and to encourage their discussion about the many areas that impact marriage. Couples also complete either an Engaged Encounter weekend or an Engaged Couple Seminar offered by the Diocese of Manchester.
